Philosophy and History While menopause is just one phase in the broader context of women’s health, it has always been the primary focus at Women Of A Certain Age. This challenging time is one where dramatic hormone fluctuation can have a multi-system effect on a woman’s body, mind, and emotions precisely at a time when she may be juggling the complex demands of aging parents and fledgling children. Menopause is essentially puberty in reverse. For many women, the experience is primarily physical and may manifest as temperature changes, sleep disturbance, dizziness, headaches, and vaginal dryness. For some the experience may be memory changes or mental fogginess. Yet for others the experience is primarily emotional with mood swings and irritability as primary symptoms. At Women Of A Certain Age we know there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health care. Our health choices need never be black or white. We don’t all lead perfectly balanced lives. Sometimes we need help from conventional therapies like pharmaceuticals or surgery. At other times, complementary treatments are most appropriate for our life’s current complexity. Regardless, our mission is to serve as your mid-life healthcare provider with referrals for specialty care when necessary. If hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is necessary, the only substances we use are bioidentical hormones (BHRT). We can link you with a number of compounding pharmacies who will prepare a customized prescription for you. At Women Of A Certain Age we believe that each woman is unique in her needs. |
